Resources

Independent agents can rely on KAIA for comprehensive resources related to their legal, industry, continuing education and technical questions. Click on the tabs below to access our industry resources.
Independent agents wear a lot of hats as small business owners, employers, consumer advocates, industry professionals and civic leaders. KAIA’s annual insurance industry awards are one way to recognize and promote the valuable role that Kansas independent agents fulfill on the local, state and national level.

Each year, the association recognizes four shining stars in the Kansas independent insurance industry: an Agent of the Year, an Outstanding Young Agent, a Distinguished Service member, and a Company Representative of the Year. Members are invited to nominate independent agents and company representatives for one or more of these industry awards. Nomination forms are brief and nominations may be made anonymously.

The honorees are recognized each year during KAIA’s Leadership & Development Conference.

Many, if not most, of you know the KAIA's attorney Will Larson. Will has represented the KAIA for thirty-six years and has been an insurance attorney for nearly 40 years. Beginning in 2013 Will decided to retire from the insurance defense litigation part of his practice and limit his practice to solely representing the KAIA and providing legal assistance to the Association's members. Although still a partner in his law firm, Larson and Blumreich Chartered, Will actually offices at the KAIA building in order to be as accessible as possible to KAIA members. Below is a partial list of some of the legal services available to KAIA members.

    • E&O issues
    • Contract issues
    • Regulatory (Insurance Department) issues
    • Insurance policy coverage issues and interpretations

  • Reviewing agency contracts
  • Reviewing and in some instances preparing buy sell agreements

  • Providing information on Kansas insurance statutes and regulations
  • Providing information on pending insurance related legislation

Members may utilize the Legal Hotline service free of charge for up to one hour per year. Additional advice or legal representation will be charged at a discounted hourly rate. All inquiries will remain confidential.

Pursuant to Will's agreement with the KAIA any charges for Will's services are paid to the KAIA and therefore benefit the Association. If you are in need of Will's services you can contact him at the Association by phone, 785-232-0561 or by e-mail at will@kaia.com
