In Honor of Larry Magill

Larry MagillLarry Magill dedicated his career to the independent insurance industry as an underwriter, independent broker and longtime leader of KAIA. As executive director, Larry guided the association, oversaw a major merger of two statewide insurance groups and initiated the formation of AScK, a for-profit arm of KAIA that offsets membership dues and gives members access to additional insurance markets.
Larry left KAIA for a few years to manage for-profit operations on the national level for the Independent Insurance Agents of America (IIABA) and to serve as CEO of the AMS Users’ Group, which provided training and technical support for members using the AMS brand agency management software. Larry returned to the helm at KAIA before his retirement. He passed away on January 6, 2010.
Larry was well-known on both the state and national level for his leadership, passion and advocacy on behalf of the independent insurance system. During his career, he earned the CPCU, CLU and AAI designations in addition to numerous awards for his service to the industry.
In 2012, KAIA members – along with Larry’s wife Carrie and their children, Daniel and Mark - dedicated the association’s new Education Center in Larry’s honor.
