Insurance Coverage Committee Creates Farmowners Task Force

Volunteer Today!

The Insurance Coverage Committee met on Tuesday, September 7th. One outcome was the committee established a Farmowners Competitive Task Force. The purpose of the task force is to help independent agents better compete against direct/captive carriers by analyzing the insurance offerings in the Farmowners market and highlight where independent agents may have a competitive advantage.

The task force plans to identify competitive advantages that can be shared with agency staff. It will review policy forms to identify potential coverage issues, their claims management approach, history of rates in the Kansas marketplace, and NAIC data on carrier complaints. The group will also consider and analyze additional material brought forth by our members.

We are seeking members with knowledge of the direct or captive carriers in Farmowners marketplace to join the task force along with input from KAIA members who have experienced new business or retention success competing against direct or captive companies. If you have had success competing against any of those carriers, we would love to hear from you! This is a limited commitment so please reach out to beth@kaia.com if you are interested in participating in the Farmowners task force.

The task force will meet on Oct. 19, 2021.
