Several licensing changes occurred on January 1, 2022, and we want to ensure you know how to renew your license and your agency's licenses in the future. (Read More: Kansas Insurance Department Migrates Licensing)

Producer Desktop, available through the Kansas Insurance Department, is no longer used for agent license applications or renewals. Producer Desktop is only available for filing an agent excess lines tax report.

So, where do you start? Here is KAIA's Step-by-Step Guide to help you!

Renewing Individual Agent License

Find Agent License
  1. Go to www.statebasedsystems.com and check your continuing education (CE) hours
    • All licenses now require 18 hours of CE, 3 of which must be ethics
  2. Under Select Your Jurisdiction, choose Kansas
  3. Select Lookup
  4. Choose Kansas from the jurisdiction dropdown menu
  5. Under Search Type, pick Licensee
  6. Under Entity Type, pick Individual
  7. Enter your appropriate personal information (Last name, First name along with license and NPN)
  8. Once you find your information, click on your name in blue (make sure to choose your regular license and not a surplus lines license.)
  9. Scroll to the section called Continuing Education Information to view your CE hours
  10. If you have sufficient CE, go to www.nipr.com and click on the Licensing Center.
  11. Choose Renew a License, and then also choose Renew Resident License.
  12. The NIPR system will walk you through the remaining steps to renew your license.
  13. To renew your license, you will need to provide your license number or NPN, the last 4-digits of your social security number, your date of birth, along with electronic payment.

Agencies will now need to renew their entity license on a biennial basis.  Agency licenses will be renewed in the month in which the original entity license was granted by the Kansas Insurance Department.  If you don’t know, no problem!  You can look up your entity license by going to www.statebasedsystems.com as well.
